Book Signing Guidelines

General Signing Information:

StoryCon reserves the right to change these rules at any time. Signing schedules are subject to change.

All signings taking place in the Exhibit Hall are open to the public, but those attendees who have pre-ordered books with Poppy Books will have line priority status. Visit poppybookssf.com/store for access to their pre-order options. Once you’ve ordered, plan to pick up your purchased books and proof of purchase at the Poppy Bookstore located in the Expo Hall. (You will need the proof of purchase to enter all priority signing lines.)

Top-ranked teens (those attending TABC/StoryCon for 6 or more years) will have VIP priority for all signing lines. (Meaning they get to skip to the front of all signing lines, even in front of priority status lines.)
Teens who have purchased a Teen Pass will have a special book signing for teens only at the end of each day. This is in addition to the public book signings taking place. (Please note that not all authors will be able to attend the teen book signings, but they will all attend a public signing.)

Anyone coming to a StoryCon book signing will be allowed to bring THREE books from home to be signed by the author of their choice. StoryCon will not guarantee that the books the attendee brings will be signed if the attendee isn’t in line soon enough. (To ensure more attendees will have the opportunity to meet Jeff Kinney, he will be doing a photo opportunity with pre-signed copies of Hot Mess instead of having a signing line at StoryCon. See specific information below.)

Signings are limited to 4 books per trip through a signing line. Some lines may be long enough that you are only able to make one trip through the time. Please check the specific guidelines per author as those might overrule these guidelines.

Jeff Kinney - Photo Opportunity:

For a guaranteed photo opportunity with Jeff Kinney, you must purchase a pre-signed, hard-backed copy of Hot Mess through Poppy Books while supplies last. Purchased books will come with a wristband which will put you in the guaranteed photo-op line. One wristband equals one photo-op. If you have not pre-purchased your book, Poppy Books will be in the Expo Hall throughout the event. You will exchange your wristband for your book at the photo op. If you can’t attend the photo op but have pre-purchased a book, please coordinate with Poppy Books to receive your signed copy. After all wristband wearers have had an opportunity to take their photo with Kinney, and if there is still time left, there may be a stand-by line available for a photo-op.

Neal Shusterman Signing:

Anyone who has purchased All Better Now, Neal Shusterman’s latest release, will have priority status in line until the book sells out. After that, general signing rules will apply. Neal Shusterman will be observing a 6-foot social distance rule throughout the convention. Please be considerate and respectful of his needs. Thank you!

Marissa Meyer:

Marissa will personalize up to two books and provide signatures only for the rest.
